i don’t know why MCP exists
i mean, i do, it’s because APIs aren’t well designed. and MCP addresses that by inserting yet another API shim with better designed API and clearer docs
but you could do that without MCP too

sure, MCP does other things. but it’s the tool that everyone talks about
besides, there are legit good utilities (e.g. FastMCP 2.0) for reforming APIs in MCP

I can’t think of any strong technological reasons for MCP to exist. There’s a lot of weak technological reasons, and there’s strong sociological reasons. I still strongly feel that, ironically, it is necessary.
