Meta (ahem, Yann LeCun) finally seems to have abandoned Llama and actually start investing in the JEPA architecture again

If you’ve never heard of it, it’s completely different from LLMs, it’s modular instead of monolithic

They trained this one on primarily video, it’s a world model. But adding other modalities is much like an adaptor framework, you don’t start from scratch, you focus only on the new modality

this ridiculous headline from yesterday, i’m fairly sure they’re hiring these highly paid scientists to double down on JEPA

it’s a bold bet, but seems worth doing. If they get it right first, they’ll be eons ahead of all other labs
