ngl the GPT-5 backlash was surprising. i get the router gripes, but i didn’t anticipate how many people expected GPT-5 to *change everything*

idk, i guess i’m just too close to it but i couldn’t imagine any change they can make to a model that would dramatically change things

reasoning has a way to go, but it “flattens” the personality, so you can’t hit that too hard

huge number of parameters make big personalities, but they’re not that smart

fwiw the router actually does change everything, i’m bullish on that. but it’s not the change people were expecting

the one thing i was hopeful in was a massive super-sparse MoE with crazy TTC reasoning and a router for reconfiguring it. but it was already clear they weren’t going to do that

which, Gemini 3 might actually do that

GDM has been clear that a major version bump means a new pretrained base model @ another order of magnitude larger

if gemini 3 also has adequate TTC (expected) it’s going to be stratospheric

i just wish Anthropic were doing it first
